Rescue Me ID: 15-02-22-00440Alfie (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Alfie is the sweetest, happiest little dog! He has very soft fur, he is very cuddly and loving, and he is fairly quiet for a young dog. He gets along well with other dogs (and, although we don't have a cat, we're guessing he would be fine with kitties). Our best guess-based on his size and weight (15 lbs.) is that Alfie is a Chihuahua mix. As you can see, he has one ear that flops over and one that stands up straight. Isn't this the cutest thing ever? Alfie is a little less than a year of age and is very well behaved, although he is still a 'puppy' when it comes to chewing. He seems to be pretty well house trained, but would need to be taken ... (Read More)out on a regular basis to polish up his pottying skills. He would also benefit from enrolling in puppy obedience classes so that he can learn a few basic skills. Because he's fairly small, a young child might inadvertently injure him, so--if a family is interested in adopting him--a family with older children would be the best fit for him. He would enjoy a safely fenced yard (please, no invisible fencing) and possibly a doggie playmate. Alfie would prefer not to be a latchkey dog, so an adopter who works out of his/her home, works part time, or is retired would be best for him. Alfie is completely vetted (he's been neutered, immunized, checked for intestinal parasites, and microchipped) and his adoption fee is $275. If you feel Alfie would be a good fit for you (and vice versa) please e-mail his foster mom at: rehome@onestarfish.net and tell her a little about your daily schedule, other family members, if you have a fenced yard and/or other pets, etc. Then, if we all agree that Alfie might be the right dog for you, Alfie's foster mom will send you an adoption application to fill out-after which time a 'meet and greet' can be arranged. Please refer to our Petfinder home page to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Again, please read the information on our home page before contacting us. (Less)

Sissy and Sara Jane are a mother and daughter, 7 and 8 years old, and 8 lbs. They are currently in a foster home in Missouri, but looking for their forever home. If you are interested in adopting this olter pair, call Maureen at 608-356-9683.

Animal ID: 1480Alonzo (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Alonzo is so full of personality that it's hard to convey in pictures, much less in words. This 4- to 5-year old 10-lb. Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix is quirky and smart. He loves his toys and likes to snuggle. It can take him a while to warm up to new people, but when he does, he owns you! He is house trained, going to the door to let you know he needs to go outside, and he is coming along well learning basic obedience commands. Alonzo gets along with other dogs, but because he doesn't like to share his toys (resource guarding) and can be possessive of his people, he would be better as an only dog. For the same reason, he should be in a home ... (Read More)without young children. Because Alonzo knows that his quirky, endearing nature has to be experienced firsthand, he urges you to 'cut to the chase' and apply for him, but if you insist on mulling it over, then check out his awesome online photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/alonzo . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting this dog, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 14-07-29-00146Gage (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Gage is an 18 month old, 22 lb., Jack Russell, Chihuahua mix needing a forever home. He has spent his whole life on a chain and, and is heartworm positive because of that. He is great with adults and other dogs. He was teased by children while tied up, so he is not good with kids. He is completely vetted, and his adoption fee is $200.00. If you are interested in adopting him, call Maureen at 608-356-9683, or Vicki at 608-448-2320.

Animal ID: 0886Agnes (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Adorable little Agnes is puzzled! More than anything, this little Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix wants to offer her love and devotion to a special someone. All she asks for in return is a warm lap to curl up in, a gentle hand to scratch her head and toss a ball, and a caring heart to make sure she gets her special food so her bladder stays healthy and a regular schedule for potty breaks. But so far, nobody has noticed her sitting here with that expectant smile that says, 'I know you're out there...' With her compact 12-lb. size and her fervent hope to be somebody's only 'baby,' 7-year-old Agnes would make the perfect companion for a single person ... (Read More)who is retired or home most of the day. That way, she and her forever mom or dad could feast attention upon one another, take walks, or go for a drive (but she promises to readily go to her crate if she needs to stay home). This is what she dreams of, and she hopes it won't be too much longer till her dream comes true. She can't hold that smile forever! You can see more pictures of Agnes and her hopeful smile at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/agnes . ================================================If you are interested in adopting Agnes, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org.adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Wisconsin
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Wisconsin if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
