Rescue Me ID: 14-07-30-00668Nacho (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Nacho is a sweet dog full of energy. We have had him for a year since he was about 8 weeks old. He loves attention and has a sweet personality as a general rule. In the past he has been a big barker and we were getting it under control until recently when our female (who we will be looking for a new home soon as well) had puppies. He needs additional training to be fully house broken. Due to long work hours there have been hold ups with proper training. Nacho is good with most people as he gets used to them. He hasn't spent a lot of time around younger children, we have all teenagers here. We do have cats and he does well with them , with ... (Read More)the exception of the random chasing. He has not had a lot of exposure to dogs outside of our house so I am not sure what his tolerance would be. He would probably do best in a home where someone is home most of the day and does not have a large number of strangers visiting. We really love him but feel he needs a home where someone can be there to work with him and give him the attention he needs. (Less)

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy is a loving dog but she is very protective of our kids and nips other kids when they come around. she would be best in a no child home. We got her from a rescue and was told she had no problems. After having her for 2 years we are certain she was abused. She just needs a quiet home with no kids. She is crate trained and house trained. She loves walks.

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-16-00540Banks (male)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Banks is a loyal, loving, lapdog. He loves going for walks and exploring the yard. We have had him for 3 and 1/2 years since he was a puppy. He is kennel trained and does great in there through the night. We have had a hard time training him to not bark and to socialize him to do well with all types of people. Although he has never bitten anyone, he sometimes shows his teeth and growls if he feels scared or is being picked on. For this reason, a home with young children would probably not be the best match for him. He does well with positive reinforcement and warms up quickly to visitors. Within just a few minutes of meeting somebody he is ... (Read More)up on their lap giving kisses and wanting to be pet. It breaks our heart to find him a new home but unfortunately he is too loud and unpredictable to stay here with our newborn baby. Please give this sweet guy a second chance... (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Utah
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Utah if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
