Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This fantastic dog needs an IMMEDIATE foster home or will go to Lied. I have two cats and I adopted this Chihuahua from Lied, of course wanting her to be good with cats. Of course the one I adopted is somewhat of a sob story (like most of them are at Lied) she was found unspayed, pregnant, no collar, no microchip with 30 ticks on her little 7 pound body. I adopted her and she is absolutely wonderful -- adorable (photos attached), quiet, sweet, smart, knows how to use a doggy door, potty trained, loves to snuggle and sleep with you (or will sleep in her bed on the floor), LOVES other dogs, good in the car, good on a leash, healthy 2 years ... (Read More)old, and of course wants to KILL and eat my cats. I have been trying to make it work for 10 days and keep them separated and slower introductions with her on a leash, etc., etc, with little progress, but the problem is my cats have kidney failure and one cat was so stressed out by the dog's presence and aggression, the cat stopped eating, lost weight, became anemic, went into organ failure and I literally had to put my cat to sleep and bury her yesterday! And I still have not taken this dog back to lied she is so sweet. I simply must find a foster home, or in order to protect my surviving cat's health, she is going back to Lied. Of course I could easily just 'get rid of the problem' by returning her to Lied any time, but that's what I'm trying to avoid. I'm willing to go to great lengths to find her a home, provide items, write up bio's, take phone calls, do home visits, etc., I just truly need to have her temporarily be somewhere else while the process of finding her a new family takes place. Could you temporarily foster her, or would you be able to provide a loving forever home for her? (Less)

One part of a Brother and Sister combo, will adopt separately,, our names are Cisco and Sissy and we need a forever home. We are seven years old, are in good health, micro-chipped, and house broken. We love to cuddle and sleep in blankets or relax with you and be petted. These little pups were abused but with a lot of love have come out of it, so a quiet stable environment is preferred for their continued healing but not necessary. They tend to attach themselves to one person but will tolerate others in time. Sissy's favorite thing to do is to get close and then roll over for belly rubs, she is extremely affectionate and Cisco will get close ... (Read More)and lay flat for back scratches. I have fostered these dogs for 18 months now and it has been a joy, they are so loving once they warmed up to me, that took a couple days because of the prior abuse but their true nature is present now. If you are looking for a mellow companion and have a lot of love in your heart please consider these little ones. They are a wonderful little brother and sister combination who like to clean each others ears, it's a joy to watch. I have leashes, collars, blankets, dog house, water and food bowls to accompany them. (Less)

Hello, I have 4 awesome Chihuahua breed dogs that I love tremendously and really hate to let go. However, I am making a large move and can not put these dogs through such an ordeal. I feel they will do better if they are rehomed. They are Mother & Father & 2 daughters. The male is neutered but females are not spayed. They are little barkers but very lovable and will alert to anything approaching your home. I really would love to see them stay together as they have been together since day 1 and have much love among the four. I have about 2-3 weeks before I move and I have no choice but to offer them up to a good home. Their names are (white ... (Read More)dog) Coco, (small brown) Shadow, (on right) Fox, (on left) Cindy. Please can someone help? I just want to see them go to a super good home! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-20-00420Louie (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

LOUIE SAYS: I will admit it! Life was pretty hard out on the streets, but when the shelter got me and decided I was better off not around at all, that was way worse. I overheard them say I must have been the fastest stray dog in LA. Honestly, I had to be! By the time the dog catchers cornered me, I had only a few teeth left, a broken jaw, two holes that went from my mouth up into my nose and I was anemic from the hundreds of fleas that were hanging on to me. I knew I just needed a little patching up and a safe place to call home, so I was so thankful when HALO made an extra spot for me just when my luck had finally run out! I learned a ... (Read More)lot on the streets, but not so much in the department of commands and house habits. I never had a cat friend. I have been willing to try, but so far they seem a little stand offish about my intense curiosity. I have learned to love humans but sometimes my need to hit the streets again kicks in. I am trying to break the habit and it doesn't mean I don't love you, you just need to be careful when opening doors around me. Now that I am 100% healthy, I need a home of my own. I really like it here with my foster family, but it's time for me to make room for the next dog that's run out of luck. Please think about meeting me, even if it is just to play or take me for a walk. HALO SAYS: Louie is a true survivor against the odds. He is a statement to the love and forgiveness that dogs are capable of. While at HALO he has had two surgeries to repair his mouth and jaw. He has no teeth so sometimes his tongue hangs out in the most adorable way. Not that it stop's him from chowing down on dinner or toys! If Louis decides to love you, he will insist on being near you as often as he can. He has spent a lot of time on his own and now that he knows that some humans can be trusted, he can't get enough of our love and attention. He is happiest if he is your shadow, in your lap, in your car or in your bed. He is very energetic and loves to run. Boy does he love to run. He also thinks he is the "macho" male, which is funny to watch, although it can cause him a little trouble sometimes'| No bite to back up that bark. Louie has the capacity to bond very deeply with you. He seems to prefer females to males at this point. Due to his demands for attention and need to dominate, it's best if he's the only dog in your house. If you are looking for unconditional love then Louie just might be your guy! When you look into his eyes you can see how thankful he is to be safe and sound with you. SPRING SPECIAL ON ADOPTIONS $50 OFF ANY HALO RESCUE PET (Less)

Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Nevada if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
