Rescue Me ID: 17-02-18-00320Heidi (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Heidi is a petite, energetic, 8 year old smooth chiweenie. She's so happy that she has retired from the breeding industry! She hasn't had an easy life and her little body shows it, but Heidi is on her way to a new, happy, healthy life. Heidi can be shy at first, but is quickly learning to trust people. She likes to get cuddles, give kisses (but watch out, she's a little French in the kissing department!) and play with squeaky toys. While Heidi does get along with other small dogs, she would prefer to be an only dog so she doesn't have to share attention or toys. (She really loves squeaky toys!) But Heidi would also be good with another ... (Read More)small submissive dog that would let her be the boss. (She may be small, but she's feisty!) Heidi is figuring out potty training and is doing well with kennel training. She will need a home with a securely fenced yard and no children under the age of 10. Suggested adoption donation for Heidi is $200 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts only to people living in states neighboringNebraska and requires the adopter to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not transport or fly our rescue dogs. A securely fenced yard is necessary to adopt one of our terriers. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment for terriers.Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-08-00328Coco (female)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Coco weighs 7 pounds and is a 6 year old female long hair chihuahua that has spent the first 5 years of her life in one of the 'horrible 100' puppy mills in Missouri. Due to the poor conditions she was living in, Coco had to be shaved upon her release as she was extremely matted. She is learning that humans can be kind and good. Coco enjoys other low energy dogs her size and also gets along well with the cats in her foster home. She enjoys napping next to a furry friend and loves dinner time. She is still learning to go potty outside and walk on a leash, and needs a fenced yard to allow her to continue with this training and explore her ... (Read More)world in safety. Since she often takes the lead from other dogs' behavior, she would do best with another confident dog to 'show her the ropes'. Coco is a nervous girl who startles at sudden movements. Her ideal family would be a home with calm, patient humans who are willing to allow her to progress toward confidence at her own pace. With time and lots of love and patience, Coco will blossom into the happy, self-assured little girl she was meant to be. Coco is spayed, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Suggested adoption fee for Coco is $250.00. If you are interested in meeting her complete an application from our website at www.revolutionrescue.com and we will be in touch! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Nebraska
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Nebraska if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
