Rescue Me ID: 13-11-30-00074Abner (male)
Abner is a very loving boy when he wants to be, but can be a bit protective of his mom. He likes to be the boss of the other dogs in the home when it comes to eating and play, but for the most part gets along with other animals. Because he can be a bit aggressive and protective it is a fear that he will end up biting someone. We have a very busy household and when someone new comes over he tends to show he doesn't like it by the fur standing up along his back and growling. We have small children who will be coming and going so in order to make things comfortable for all we think it best to re-home him in an environment which will better suit him. He loves to play and go for walks, he needs to be leashed or in a fenced in yard. We love this little guy but feel this is the only other option at this point, not only for his safety, but the safety of others. He would be great in home that is low key where he can be the protector. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-11-12-00181DELLA & RINGO (female)
'Della' and 'Ringo,' two adorable small-breed mixes, were found in an area orchard, having been dumped there in a cardboard box. Their rescuer already had several dogs and could not add two more to their pack, so they called ASL. We're not sure if 'Della' and 'Ringo' are brother and sister inasmuch as 'Ringo' appears to be a tiny bit older than 'Della,' although they are both under a year old. While we will not make it a requirement that they go together, they are obviously deeply bonded, so it sure would be nice! 'Della' has strong Chihuahua and Pug characteristics. 'Ringo' could be the same, although he does not have 'Della's' underbite. Both are exceptionally sweet-natured and playful, although they settle right down for quiet time. They will be ready to go at the end of November, following their spay/neuter surgeries. UTD on vaccinations and microchipped. Great little lap dogs! Fee, $145 for one; $245 for both. |Rescue Me ID: 13-11-05-00238Rico (male)|
Rico is a very friendly long haired fella who very rarely barks. He is home all day by himself and needs a loving family that can spend more time with him. He is crate trained and loves walks. He also likes to chew so a chew bone is a must (no stuffed animals). He is very friendly and likes kids, cats and other dogs (tho he thinks he's in charge).

Rescue Me ID: 13-11-02-00237Tank (male)
Tank will be 5 years old this November (2013). He currently lives with 2 toddlers (ages 2 & 3), an 8year old female pomeranian and a male cat. I have owned Tank since he was a puppy so this was a very hard decision to make. I will only release him to the perfect home. The ideal setting would be someone who has plenty of time to spend with him and own another like animal to keep him company when his owner is away. He loves to love, be loved and epitomize the term 'lap dog'. He gets along well with other easy going animals of any bread. He loves kind children who can be gentle with him too! Hyper or very active dogs/humans make him very nervous and defensive so please be sure to have a calm, loving environment for him. He of course loves his moments of play and running is speedy circles around the house. Tank is house trained but beware he does take a very long time to do his #2 business outdoors and must be leashed or have a fenced in yard. We are very sad to have to do this but he just doesnt get the love he deserves in our house and its obvious he is less than happy with the dynamic. He is the low man in our 'pack' and has been marking things lately to show dominance. We hope to find the PERFECT loving and PATIENT home for this sweet, sweet boy! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-05-21-00335KODA (male)
We're told 'Koda' is a 'Bo-Chi,' a Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix. Anything's possible, I guess. He certainly came out stronger on the Chihuahua side! The only BT characteristics we can see are a slightly squared off muzzle and very mild underbite. Fawn in color, 'Koda' was born in September 2010, is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, on heartworm preventive and is microchipped. And what a personality! 'Koda' is self-assured enough to easily transition into a new home, but is not a bully or arrogant. He's a sweetheart! He gets along with other dogs wonderfully, as well as with cats. 'Koda' is both crate and housetrained, loves to play and does not chew inappropriately. A great traveler! Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
