Rescue Me ID: 16-05-03-00531Thelma (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Thelma, a sweet ten year old, housebroken terrier in need of a retirement home. Thelma is sweet and loves to cuddle. She is submissive around other dogs and her compatibility with cats is unknown at this time.. Before coming to rescue, Thelma took a road trip. Based on how she arrived at the shelter, that road was long and hard. She was found hungry, covered with fleas, with a few bald spots, very overgrown nails and missing teeth. Thelma found refuge in the shelter and received the medical care she needed. Now all she needs is love. Thelma is spayed, up to date on immunizations and microchipped. If you are interested in ... "Like" Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook! NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-29-00197Romeo (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Name: Romeo Sex: Male Breed: Chi Mix Age: 8 yrs old Weight: 9 lbs Good with: People, dogs and kids (cat untested) Romeo was a local surrender by an owner that had no time for him...often alone for around 12 hours a day. He is a super friendly and loving dog and is used to living with other dogs. His energy level is pretty mellow and he is good at settling down once play time is over. Romeo is a total love...a little guy who thinks he is 'all that'. He loves the outdoors, walks in the woods, playing fetch in the yard with his red ball, hiking, boating, and jogging with his foster mom. He is sweet and affectionate, lays in his foster mom's ... (Read More)lap every evening on the couch, sleeps in the bed with his foster parents all night (with 2 other dogs as well) and never has accidents in the house. He would do well in a home with another dog that he liked, or a stay-at-home mom, because he is 8 years old and lived with another dog before. He would not do well alone for whole days at a time, as he is quite social really and likes his people. He may be 8 years old, but he's no couch potato. He would make a loving companion for someone with the time and love to spoil him with. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application survivortails.org or email adoptions@survivortails.org with any questions Please note we can only adopt to the states of MA, CT and NH (Less)

Chihuahua    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Coleman, and I'm half of a great package deal with my little sister Chloe. I'm a sweet, 10 years young chihuahua mix, and Chloe is a 5 year old terrier mix. Together we're a super cute pair who would love to have our very own people to love. Coleman says: My favorite pastime is snuggling with my foster mom on the couch or in bed. I also love bringing you my toys so we can play fetch. My sister and I enjoy playing tag and chasing each other around until we tire ourselves out. Chloe says: I love to have fun! I'm an energetic but well-behaved girl. My foster mom says I'm like a 7 pound pogo stick. I love to be with my ... Chloe and Coleman would love a quiet forever home where they can go for walks, help out in the garden, and share a couch cushion with their person. Their ideal home would be one with only children 12+, or a one or two person home with a very laid back lifestyle. No cats please-- they're just too tempting for Coleman. :-) Chloe and Coleman are up to date on their vaccinations, microchipped, and housetrained. They are being fostered in Charlton, and the adoption fee of $300 will cover them both. PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Massachusetts
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Massachusetts if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
