Rescue Me ID: 16-01-30-00306Mia (female)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Mia! Sweet little Mia is a teeny 5lb Chihuahua. The vet estimated her to be about 2 years old. She was picked up by an animal control officer after a previous owner had dumped her out in the cold. Mia has some frost bitten ears, but is otherwise healthy and happy. Because of her tiny size, she should only be in a home with older, dog savvy children. She is extremely timid and skittish when she first meets you. Once she comes out of her shell and learns to trust, she will follow you everywhere and always keep your lap warm. She would love a home where she can cuddle under the blankets with her humans at night. She loves to jump around ... (Read More)and engage in tug-of-war with dogs of all sizes. She doesn't like to be left alone, so would prefer to live in a home where someone will be around her often throughout the day. She has begun house training in her current foster home and is learning to use a pee pad for those freezing cold winter days. If you're looking for a little love bug, Mia is your girl! Mia is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm and Lyme. If you are interested in finding out more about Mia, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/ Mia is being fostered in Upton and the adoption fee is $375. "Like" Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook! NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. (Less)

Chihuahua    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very Low Energy
Health: Vaccinations Current

Gertie is a 14 year old 6lb Chi who is looking for a retirement home to call her own. She is just about the sweetest dog you will ever meet and her favorite activity is snuggling on a warm lap underneath the blankets. She does not see or hear very well but she does not let that slow her down! She loves to wander all around the house and when she is done with her exercise routine she will come over to be picked up so she can take a nap on your nice warm lap. Gertrude is currently living with a 30lb dog as well as a cat and she is fine with both. She really isn't fazed by anything as long as she gets her snuggles. She is house trained ... (Read More)but because of her age and size she needs to be taken out approximately every 4 hours or provided with an adequate substitute such as pee pads or a diaper. We recommend a house without small children because of her size and age but she is sweet with everyone she meets. If you are looking for the cutest lap warmer ever you've found her! Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Introducing Minnie! Minnie is a sweet, friendly older gal who is great with everyone! She came to Broken Tail Rescue after her longtime owner passed away. She was noticeably sad with the transition, but after a few days, she started showing her happy side. We were told that Minnie is 15 years old, but you wouldn't think that from looking at her! She is very active - she loves hanging out in the backyard and going for walks. She trots all around the house after her foster mom and dad, and loves to curl up on the couch at night. Minnie is about 20 pounds and has big ears that stick up straight (which makes us think she has some Corgi ... (Read More)mixed in). She is great with dogs and cats. This senior gal would make a perfect companion for a senior human! If you are interested in finding out more about Minnie, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://www.brokentailrescue.org/adoption-application/ Minnie is being fostered in Worcester and the adoption fee is $50. Rescue Me ID: 15-12-27-00228Henry (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

HENRY is an adorable 2 yr old Chihuahua who is looking for a new family to love! Henry prefers human companions over canine ones and since he doesn't like to share, he would do best as the only dog in the home. Henry is spunky and playful and then super happy to snuggle up with his pals. Henry is not open to sharing food with anyone so a home without young children is a must. If you've got an open lap and some love to share this holiday season, come check out Henry! To meet HENRY, you can send us an email at info@scituateanimalshelter.org, call us at (781) 544-4533, or come in any time during our open hours (listed below!). If you'd like ... Rescue Me ID: 15-12-02-00802Violet (female)

Chihuahua

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Miss Violet is a little stray Chihuaha that I tracked and finally caught after quite a struggle. She was covered in fleas and ticks, puncture wounds and dirt. She has trouble with her back legs and she also had a seizure during the process of catching her. It is evident based on her condition and temperament that she had been on her own for quite some time. She has a couple of old breaks in her back that cause her to have some issues walking, from blunt trauma at some point in her life. She is extremely fearful and nervous to new people and situations, but warms up quickly once she trusts you. And once she trusts you (food speeds up that ... Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Coleman, and I'm half of a great package deal with my little sister Chloe. I'm a sweet, 10 years young chihuahua mix, and Chloe is a 5 year old terrier mix. Together we're a super cute pair who would love to have our very own people to love. Coleman says: My favorite pastime is snuggling with my foster mom on the couch or in bed. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized.
