Rescue Me ID: 15-06-23-00176Ginger (female)
My name is Ginger. I am approximately 4 years old and believed to be a Corgi Chihuahua mix. I am the sweetest girl. I just want to be close with my human and preferably be in your lap, being petted. I get along with other dogs but have not been tested with cats. I have been spayed, micro-chipped, and am up-to-date on my vaccinations. Please consider giving me the forever home I deserve.

Rescue Me ID: 15-06-07-00227Keco (male)
This is Keco. Male chihuahua. He is a good boy with alot of special needs I can't afford. He has problems with his legs, back, all nerological I believe. He can walk, he does not seem like he is in pain but needs treatment that my budget won't allow. He has also begun using the bathroom in his own bed. I know he dosent mean to he just cant control it. I would love for him to go to that one special person who can have him checked out by a neurologist, and to give him all the love he deserves. I wouldnt recommend him to be with other animals just a fear that one might hurt him as he is very sensitive, sometimes to someone petting him, which I am sure is nerve related. If you might be that special one I am interested in hearing from you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-11-00107Wesley (male)
Little Wesley is a great little puppy...sadly his owners father has developed horrible allergies to him. He is a beautiful long hair black and white chi mix. Looks almost like a mini Border Collie. He is about 12 pounds and loves his little 6 year old master with all his heart as well as his brother that also needs a new home. Would probably be better with another puppy/dog in the house because he has always been with his brother or master.

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-21-00198Leslie and Louie (female)
Leslie and Louie were surrendered to our rescue, by their owner as she was unable to care for them any longer. They are an extremely bonded pair that absolutely must stay together. Leslie is a 6 yr old female weighing about 5 lbs. She is a long haired Chihuahua and loves everyone she meets. No one is a stranger. She loves to cuddle and sleeps in bed with her foster parents. Louie is an 8 yr old chorkie. He has had a bad experience with men in his past, but has forgotten about it, in the lap of his foster dad. He is good with other dogs but best not around young children. He is also very protective of Leslie, but has never threatened any harm. He just growls a good game! He too sleep with his foster parents and loves to snuggle. Louie is neutered and Leslie is scheduled to be spayed. Both are current on vaccines and heartworm negative. Both will require regular grooming. They are also housebroken. We regularly update pictures on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bluegrass-Senior-Dog-Rescue/. |Rescue Me ID: 15-03-08-00300Baby (female)|
Baby needs someone to take her and work with her before putting her in a permanent home. She has been with two other female chihuahuas. She has been in a dark environment, void of human contact. She is not potty trained, and is very shy around people when first meeting them, but has a very sweet nature. Baby just wants someone to love her so bad and give her attention.

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-22-00154Chili (male)
Hi! My name is Chili! I'm a Dachshund mix, maybe with a little Chihuahua or small breed terrier mixed in. I'm about 1-1.5 years old, male, and am 15-17 pounds. I'm so happy I got rescued from the high intake county kill shelter I was found in! Now I'm livin' it up in foster care, but I'm ready to find a family to call my own! Let me tell you a little about myself! First, my temperament and disposition pretty well rings true to those personality traits most commonly associated with my primary breed, the Dachshund. I'm a big dog trapped in a little dog's body. Spunky, lively and courageous, I'm bold and fearless and have an 'Alpha' type of personality. I currently live with four other dogs, all of which are larger than me (30-50 pounds), and I love romping and playing games of chase, tug of war, and rough housing with them. I've not been around cats before, so I'd have to meet one before I could tell you how I feel about them. I'm curious about most everything and enjoy playing with toys - some of my favorites are Nylabones, squeaky toys, and those soft fluffy toys they make without the stuffing. I'm also well known for my love of paper products - there is nothing more fun than grabbing the end of a roll of toilet paper roll and taking a trot down the hallway with it! The Dachshund was bred as a hunter of small, burrow dwelling animals, and as such, you can expect me to do a little bit of digging in the yard (don't worry, it's just a little bit here and there). If a yard isn't available, I will gladly dig in a pile of blankets and happily burrow underneath. I also like to burrow under the covers and sleep next to my foster human at night (yes, I know, I'm a bit spoiled!). I would describe myself as an active boy, and I enjoy going to the park and taking leash walks, as well as riding in the car. I'm house broken and crate trained too. Probably the most important thing you should know about me is that I need a forever home that has some patience. I can be a bit stubborn and persistent at times. Like many Dachshunds, I'm very uncertain of unfamiliar people, and that being the case, I will growl and bark at them (I make a great guard dog!). I am NOT aggressive and haven't ever bitten; my growling and barking is just how I react when presented with someone new. We all have our little quirks, and that's one of mine. Laying all the cards on the table here, if we ever get the chance to meet, I will probably even bark at you. But I'm a smart boy and a pretty good judge of character, and with time I will figure out that you're someone that wants to be my friend. And once I understand that you're a friend, you won't find a more loyal, loving and devoted dog than me! I will be yours forever and always! I would be best suited in a home with an active family, a fenced yard or with someone that has the time to take me on nice long walks regularly or to the park for a good run. I would most likely do best in a home with adults only or with older children. I haven't been around young kids much and the sudden movements and noises that young children make may frighten me. On another note, I'm up to date on all of my vaccinations, have been heartworm tested and am current on preventative, am current on flea/tick preventative, have been neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in giving me a loving forever home, The Way Home Rescue Alliance Adoption Process is as follows: - E-mail my foster mom at email@example.com with any questions you have or to request an adoption application. - Complete the adoption application and return it to my foster mom. - Upon review and reference check of the application, my foster mom will get in touch with you to set up a 'meet and greet' and perform a home visit. - As previously mentioned, because I'm wary of new people, the best way to get to know me and for me to get to know you is through a 'foster to adopt' trial period. This means that I would stay with you for a couple of weeks to see if we are a good match before finalizing the adoption. If we are, at the end of the trial period then the adoption contract is signed and adoption fee is paid. If we aren't a good fit, then my foster mom will come and pick me up. Thanks so much for reading about me and considering a rescue dog like me! Happy tail wags - hope to see talk to you soon! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Kentucky
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Kentucky if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
