Rescue Me ID: 16-05-30-00113Layla (female)
I have to find a home for this sweet girl. She is very loving, but was abused as a puppy before I rescued her, and suffers from fear aggression at times. My fianc̩ and I are moving in together, and Layla has nipped at both of her kids in the past. Not violently, but the kids are scared, and my fianc̩ says she has to go. I'm dying inside. I don't want this, so I want to make sure she goes to a good home. She takes a while to warm up, but when she does, she's as loving as you'll ever find, and she loves to play with stuffed animals.

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-28-00419RB (male)
RB is a 4 year old chihuahua/pomeranian mix who needs to find a forever home in the next week. He will be surrendered to a local county animal shelter on 6/2 if I cannot locate a home for him. There was a last minute change of heart by a landlord I've already signed a contract with, and he said that RB cannot stay on the property. Being a chi/pom mix makes him a bit unusual. He has public anxiety and is dominant with other animals. He is respectful of people and kids, but gets a little screamy in public settings if people approach without warning. He will not bite or nibble though, but licks to death while screaming. He has been like this since I adopted him three years ago. He loves children, naps, soft beds, and a lap to lay on. He seriously does not require a lot of play, but prefers some talking to and lots of petting in the morning. He is a very quiet dog indoors and outside for the most part. The chihuahua part of him does bring out territorial marking if you do not keep on top of him. He will immediately stray away from sniffing and looking to mark if you command him away. If you take him out regularly, you will not even have an issue. He is around 7lbs, and about 18 inches long and just under a foot tall. He's a very quiet, loving dog, that doesn't mind excitement in familiar company. I would really like to see him spared a shelter surrender as the only shelter I can take him to at the very last moment before my move will be a kill shelter. He needs updated vaccinations for this year. My mobile vet unit hasn't been in my area and he's overdue by about two months. (Less)

I am a good little girl, I love to have a good lap and enjoy dressing up and having my nails painted. I am doing real good with potty training to a puppy pad. I am doing great with my leash training and I LOVE my toys. I get along real well with other dogs especially if they will play with me. Children that can play with me are wonderful and I do real good with crate training. I want a fun loving home with someone that will Love me and play with me.

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-24-00579Chester (male)
I have had Chester for 18 months. After an initial time to gain his trust he has ahown no aggression to adults or to my 10 year old grandson. His only problem has been with my older JRT male. There seems to be no love lost between them and recently their mutual hostility towards each other has escalated. I know he would be a good fit for an adult home with no other pets. He loves being petted and cuddling. He knows basic commands. I hope you'll give him a chance. He is in good health and weighs 17 pounds at his last vet visit.

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-12-00569Twinkie (female)
Twinkie belongs to my mother. When my grandmother died, my mother took her in because my uncle was threatening to take her to the pound. Back then my mother was moderately healthy, but over the last two years she's become ill. She's in debt with doctor bills and unfortunately unable to properly care for Twinkie. Twinkie is around 14 years old, and she has some health issues. She has trouble walking, her teeth are in bad shape, and she has a hard time holding it when it comes to going to the bathroom. My grandmother had her trained on pee pads, and she does still know how to use them, but we've tried to housebreak her, and I think it's just because she was on the pee pads all her life, it's hard for her to completely learn to go outside. Because she's old, she's pretty laid back most of the time and just likes to sleep. I've tried contacting rescues in an attempt to find someone to help rehome her but have had no success. If you're interested in adopting her, know that she will definitely need some veterinary care. (Less)

Penny is a 15 year old doxie mix, who was surrendered to a shelter. She is in remarkable health for her age, including her teeth. Penny weighs 20# and is attempting to reduce a few lbs. Penny does have cataracts, which cause her vision to be less than perfect. She has adapted well and can compensate for her vision loss. She is slow to go up and down stairs and would be best suited to a single story home. Penny is spayed, current on all vaccines and heartworm negative. Penny does well with other dogs, cats and everyone she meets. She is best suited in a home without young children. Penny walks well on a leash, is crate trained and housebroken. |PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Kentucky|
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Kentucky if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
