Rescue Me ID: 16-09-19-00136Bambi (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Would anyone out there like to welcome a senior dog into their home and give her a soft place to land for the rest of her life? We have the sweetest, most lovable little senior around -- Bambi. At 9 years old, this Chihuahua mix is ready to relax and enjoy life with her people. Bambi was surrendered because she enjoys chasing cats and is not fully house trained; however, Bambi does well with dogs and kids and is kennel trained (which could be used to complete her house training). Bambi is spayed, utd on her shots, and microchipped. *Please contact the rescue for Bambi's adoption fee.

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-15-00182Diego (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Diego is a relaxed, very loving and happy Chi-Weenie (actually, Chihuahua, Dachshund and Maltese)until the doorbell rings and then he goes into panic mode with his bark. He has been good with children, but gets nervous with their high level of activity. I question how he would react to being startled by one grabbing him. Diego is the perfect 'hang around the house' dog. He needs a yard though, which we do not have and because his knees are sensitive our stairs work him out too much. He loves going on walks, watching tv (odd, I know:), sleeping and the occasional rambunctious play.

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-12-00111Tiny Tim (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Five year old Tiny Tim was transferred to our Rescue after his owner could no longer care for him. He is understandably disoriented by this sudden change in his life but he is adjusting to his new environment. Still shy and cautious, Tiny Tim warms up to people who offer him treats and the opportunity to go for a walk. This Chihuahua mix would benefit from a guardian who can provide exercise and can help him manage his weight. Tiny Tim's thoughts on dogs, cats, and kids are a secret for now, but you're welcome to come by the Rescue and get to know him. *Please contact the rescue for Tiny Tim's adoption fee.

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-25-00334Reagan (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

NOTE: Reagan was recently returned to MVHS because he didn't do very well with the other dog in the home. Since Reagan is so protective of his people, we recommend that he is placed into a home with no other dogs. My fellow Americans, my name is Reagan, and I am hoping to be sELECTED as the newest member of your family. A little bit about me first'| I am a four year old male Chihuahua who polls especially well with children over eight years old. I am always up for playtime, but there is also a tender side to me as well. I love to cuddle, snuggle and give kisses. Now I'll be the first to admit that I could use some formal leash training and ... (Read More)a refresher on potty training (though I am kennel trained). I came from a hoarding situation, so my friends here are working on helping me to reach a healthy weight. But in the end, I am just a very sweet boy who would love to be your new best friend. And just think, a year from now when someone asks you 'Are you better off now than before you adopted Reagan?,' you can answer with an emphatic YES! *Please contact the rescue for Reagan's adoption fee. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Winston is a handsome 10 year old black pug chihuahua mix or chug. He has a wonderful foster family, but this cute guy would love nothing more than family of his own. Winston is a fun, smart, little dog. He always wants to please his people which makes training easy. He would do best in a home without young kids and with people who are dog smart. He gets along with his foster family's other dogs and cats but would be happiest being an only dog. He doesn't play with toys but does like to play with his foster owners hand. Winston also enjoys sitting on lap his people's lap, watching TV and going places. Adoption Fee $100

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-27-00201Moxie (female)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Don't let the gray muzzle fool you, young Moxie is only about 3 years old! Moxie is a ~7 lb chi mix who is an outgoing, energetic, and playful girl. If you throw any toy, she will chase it. She quickly made friends with the 2 other dogs in her foster home and even keeps up with the 8 month puppy! Her foster home also has cats, and while she sometimes gets excited and wants to play with them, she usually leaves them alone. She was being passed up for a while at the Humane Society (most likely due to her coloring) so Fuzzy Pawz Rescue stepped in to foster and get to know her so she could find a perfect home. ... (Read More)Moxie would do best in a household with another playful dog to be best friends with and one that has PLENTY of toys. Give her a toy box and she will gladly take one toy out every now and then and entertain herself. She is crate trained and will sleep quietly through the night. She is also good for a cuddle during nap time. She is not crazy about kids - they stress her out so no kids under 15 please. And for reasons we can't know Moxie is not a huge fan of men upon meeting them; it will take her time to bond with a man in her new home. Moxie's past is a bit muddled and she's picked up some not-so-great habits. BUT! Her foster humans are working really hard to teach her how to walk pleasantly on a leash, listen to commands, and not be so possessive over her humans. She will need a home that can get through her stubbornness, and continue a very regimented and consistent message to Moxie, so she can learn how to be the best version of herself. She's come a long way already! Like we said, she is quite active and enjoys swimming (with her life jacket of course) and long walks in the foothills (she's good for a few miles a day!). This type of exercise will help her from behaving poorly due to pent up energy. After her playtime and exercise Moxie enjoys a good nap next to you on the couch (or on your lap if you'll allow). She does love to snuggle and be close to her human. This balance of exercise and quiet time will be key to her continued success. Moxie has taken well to her crate training and she is learning that it's quiet time in her crate. Usually with a treat she will hop right in. Overall Moxie is a fun and easy going dog that would love to have a backyard to sprint around in and some doggie buddies to hang and play with. We feel she would do really well in almost any home. Moxie is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped. If you feel you can offer this sweet girl the forever loving home she deserves, please complete an adoption application here: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is a $50 adoption fee for Moxie (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-25-00735Maggie Mae (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Maggie Mae!!! Maggie entered our rescue months ago and has spent valuable time with one of our rehab fosters who specializes in small dog behavioral issues. Maggie has gone from a terrified and trembling mess who would not voluntarily leave her crate and would nip at anyone who tried to grab her (especially men), to a sweet girl that just needs time to warm up to you and needs a person or couple to respect her and nurture her progress. She now snuggles with her foster mom AND her foster dad, she was terrified of him for some time. It is impossible to know what a horrible past life little Maggie had before she came to us but with the ... (Read More)experienced hand of her foster she has improved leaps and bounds, and is now ready for her furever home to the right family. It is impossible to know what a horrible past life little Maggie had before she came to us but with the experienced hand of her foster she has improved leaps and bounds, and is now ready for her furever home to the right family. We estimate Maggie to be about 6 years old so she has years of spunky life ahead. She had some bad teeth so she has had a few extractions and a teeth cleaning. Maggie is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. She is potty trained and crate trained. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Maggie does NOT do well with children of any age and will not be placed in a home with them. Grandchildren must NOT be allowed to come near her. Her stress levels rise and she will bite. Maggie is cat reactive so we will be looking for a home with no cats accessible to her. Maggie DOES do well with other dogs big and small as long as they don't torment or intimidate her. If you would like to adopt Maggie and meet her you must understand that the initial meeting will be awkward for Maggie and may seem like it did not go well. For Maggie we will extend the Trial Adoption period to allow flexibility for Maggie. Her adoption fee is $100. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Idaho
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
