Rescue Me ID: 14-04-17-00486Paws (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered

Paws is a 3 year old neutered male Chihuahua. He is bright, alert, and appears to be house trained. This little guy doesn't like the kennel but tolerates it with good will. Naturally, he prefers to be out and about or snuggling up in a nice warm lap. Paws currently avoids eye contact but that should change when he finds a good, loving home to settle in and some new humans to make his own. Paws is curious about his surroundings but listens and returns to his handler when called. He isn't interested in toys or treats but we think that may change when he's more comfortable in a permanent home. To meet Paws, please come by the rescue during ... (Read More)operating hours. Rescue Me ID: 14-04-08-00307Polly (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My mother once told me that bad news is just good news in disguise. - Sid Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Bad news was that Sweet Polly the pocket sized pup is a 3 year old Fox Terrier/Chihuahua mix was abandoned by her owners the good news is that she is now a member of the Fuzzy Pawz Rescue foster family. This adorable little girl with her long neck, soulful eyes and flopped over ears reminds us of Sid from Ice Age; though she is anything but sloth like! Polly is FULL of energy when she is outside and loves to run laps in the back yard. Weighing in at about 16 pounds she has the short coarse coat like ... (Read More)many Fox Terriers and sloths; but that is where the resemblance ends. While Polly may be full of vigor when she is outside she seems to know to calm down when she comes back inside. Polly would love someone to take her jogging; but at the very least she will need a good walk or 2 every day. She is amazing on a leash and loves to sit in the car whether you are going anywhere or not! She is house trained, crate trained and very, very quiet. While she is more than willing to watch TV on the bed, she prefers to sleep in a crate on the floor. Even when she wants a little quiet time, she heads to her crate. She is okay with other dogs but she is pretty pushy with them. She has a dominant play style with other dogs her own size and will try to oust another dog for her spot on your lap. She corrects easily when you tell her to play nice but we think that an 'only dog home' would be better than with other small dogs. Seems like she is just starved for attention and it is hard to share with them. Because of her energy and how quickly she bonds, we think she would be fantastic with kids (thought we haven't had her around any) but not as well suited with the elderly. She has no issues with social skills, is non-aggressive at feeding time and will nose right into the pack to get to her food and is not treat motivated but a 'Good Girl' means the world to her. She just wants to belong to and love someone in the worst way. Come out, come out wherever you are and adopt our favorite sloth, oops Fox Terrier Polly! Please fill out the adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ and we will get back to you about her. There is an adoption fee of $40 + the cost of her vetting Polly is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped (Less)

Health: Needs to be Neutered

Paco is a 5 year old unneutered male Chihuahua/Pug blend who is looking for his very own lap. Paco is a very friendly little boy.     [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Little Bitty Cutie Pants is what this girls name should be but someone decided to call her Misty so guess we will go with that - but in secret we still call her Little Bitty Cutie Pants (with sugar on top)! FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Misty is a joyful little girl who is sweet, gentle and loving. She loves nice long scratches and to be close to her people. She likes to dance around and play and has recently found she also likes stuffed dog toys! She is a joy in her foster home, being nice to the kitties, learning to play and just be a dog by learning from the other dogs in her foster home. She is enjoying ... (Read More)the good life of being a Fuzzy Pawz Rescue foster dog in a home that understands her and loves on her and makes her world a safe place. Misty is one of those dogs that just make you smile every time you see her face or watch her prance over to you for some loves. Sadly Misty has not always had such a great life. Misty was born into a family that was backyard breeding in the ugliest sense of the word. While being born Misty was trapped in the birth canal and deprived of oxygen. She has some neurological damage that makes her walk like a show horse instead of a dog. She prances where ever she goes but it doesn't slow her down much, it is the only thing she has ever known and she gets around great. We suspect Misty has spent her life living like a gerbil in a cage never experiencing love, snuggles or even the outdoors. She is now learning to be a dog; just sniffing around in the yard is new but she has found that it is not such a scary place and will go outside to bask in the sunshine. Due to Misty's original issues with being afraid to go outside she has been potty trained to a pad in the house; how that she is enjoying the outdoors she is learning to potty outside. This will be something that a new family will have to continue working with her on. She needs more practice and a loving person to reward her when she does well. She gets along fine with other small dogs but big dogs are too much for her and make her shake. She likes the kids she is living with in her foster home with but they are 11 and up. Due to Misty's size and neuro issues we require that she only got to a home with no kids or with kids 11 and up. Misty needs (and deserves) someone to love her and show her what she has missed in the world. She needs a chance at a lifetime of happiness. She'll repay you with sweet kisses and eyes of endearment if you will only give her a chance. If you can offer that and more to our Little Bitty Cutie Pants (with sugar on top) please contact Fuzzy Pawz Rescue and fill out the adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $40 to adopt Misty Misty is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped *Misty is eligible for our Pets for Patriots Program **You can see a short video of Misty here: http://youtu.be/3NdK4kQbVoo (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-25-00410Minnie (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Minnie is a 5 year old Chihuahua who found herself homeless in California and decided to hitch a ride with some other doggie friends to find her fortune in Boise, Idaho. Fuzzy Pawz Rescue is hoping to help her strike gold with a forever family to call her own. This cutie is very sweet but she does take a few days to warm up and trust new people; once she does watch out as she will be your BEST friend forever and will shower your face with kisses. Minnie is a hearty little dog; not too skittish or fragile. She's adorable too, with one ear up and one ear that flops down. Minnie is not needy like a lot of little dogs; she likes to be a lap ... (Read More)dog, but she also likes just laying at the other end of the couch. Minnie is comfortable being on her own and not following her people around every moment. She burrows in the covers and wants to sleep under the covers, either at the foot of the bed or spooning with you if allowed. She's quiet and does not really bark much even when other dogs are carrying on. She has a TON of energy and is very busy. Busy, busy, busy. Not in a bad way. She needs a daily walk to ensure she is properly stimulated. Exercise and play will really help her shine, as will making sure she stays properly socialized with other people. She does like to play with people she knows and trusts--her favorite toy being the flirt pole. She also really likes a good game of 'Chase'. She enjoys camping and outdoor activities, and can be trusted in camp and on hikes to stay close by. This little dog does not want to be a 'purse dog'. She's independent and adventurous and is not 'mini' in her mind. As with a lot of dogs who have a really rough start to life Minnie can and will cop a 'little dog attitude' if/when she feels threatened. She will need an owner who will be able to make Minnie feel that she doesn't need to control her environment; that you will take care of everything. In her foster home, her strongest bond is with her foster dad who feeds her. She does not give him any trouble at all, but her foster mom gets the 'attitude' when Minnie doesn't want to do something (i.e. when she knows it's time to go in her crate in the morning). With some proper training techniques and patience this behavior is easily managed. She is not completely house trained, but she is crate trained. It takes her a while to go outside and you have to go out with her to make sure she goes. In the cold weather and rain she will not be too eager to go out on her own. With a feeding and potty schedule and a wee bit of patience she will figure it out. We are working on her basic training skills, and she is learning. Minnie is currently living with 2 dogs and 2 cats and does fine with all of them; however we think she would like to be someone's one and only. Because she can be a little untrusting at first, she should be in a home without children. Minnie is microchipped, spayed, vaccinated and will have a dental done before adoption. If you are looking for a new best friend please complete an adoption application at http://www.fuzzypawzrescue.com/adoptionapplication.htm There is a $40 adoption fee for Minnie (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Chihuahua in Idaho
Chihuahua Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Chihuahuas are high strung, yappy, tiny dogs. Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
