Rescue Me ID: 14-10-17-00595Ringo (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered

Ringo is a 5 month old unneutered Chihuahua who will charm you in a nanosecond. He sure didn't waste any time charming several of the volunteers...as well as being beautiful and well behaved, he's a snuggle-bunny and will share tons & tons of kisses. Ringo walks fairly well on lead, wants to play, and is undaunted by obstacles if he wants to get to something (he's a bit of a mountain goat). He likes treats and accepts them gently and will work hard to get them. When you visit, please ask a volunteer to show you how he crosses his front paws... so cute. If you'd like to meet Ringo, visit the rescue during business hours, 11 am - 4 pm daily. ... (Read More)*Ringo will be neutered prior to him going to his new home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-17-00536Chubby (male)

Chihuahua    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Sweet little Chubby looks like he is a Corgi trapped in a Chihuahua body; making him the cutest dog this side of the Continental Divide. This little man is 7 years old and just a sweet heart. Chubbs takes a little while to feel comfortable with new people and so can be a little stand offish until he gets to know you; he's not mean about it he's just shy. While he loves to be close, he prefers not the center of attention. He likes to follow his foster mom around and sit right next to her but doesn't actually get in her lap very often. This should change over time; once he has a home that is his very own and he ... (Read More)finds that special person who will bring him peace. When we took Chubby from the shelter he was totally in love with one of the workers there and was all over her seeking her attention. This boy didn't have the best of lives and did not grow up learning to be a normal happy, playful dog and sadly never learned how to play with toys. He is however very good with other dogs, having lived with lots of them in the past this isn't surprising. Chubby would probably do best in a household with another dog that he can model behavior after or with an owner that has lots of time to devote to him. He is very quiet in the house and perfectly house trained. While Chubbs is okay with kids he would need to be in a home with children who know to respect his wanting to be left alone at times. Loud, running kids would make him shut down. Chubby also met a cat while he was in the shelter and didn't seem to care about it one way or the other so we think he'd be fine with them. He loves to jump up on the couch and likes to sleep with his doggie friends in your bed. He is a great little traveler, he went to Cascade last weekend and he slept the whole way. Loves to just sit in the car so have to watch just leaving the door open in the garage or he jumps in and falls asleep. Chubby is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped If you can offer Chubby a lifetime of happiness and learning please fill out the application for her at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ and her foster Mom will get back to you quickly. There is a $40 adoption fee for Chubby (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-14-00164Koda (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID This adorable boy was abandoned at about 6 weeks of age under a truck in small remote town in Washington. A kind soul found him and took him to the vet's office. When he was not claimed one of the vet techs contacted Fuzzy Pawz asking for help. Now named Koda this adorable little Schipperke/Chihuahua mix is a fearless high energy pup who will need a family willing to continue his training using positive reinforcement methods and keep up on his socialization. We are going to guess he will be about 15-20 pounds as an adult; but this and his breeds are just our best guess. He is a bit of a rough player with ... (Read More)small dogs and cats but will take correction nicely and redirect himself. This little guy is not afraid to self-entertain so he will need a diligent owner who will supervise him and make sure he stays out of trouble. Koda is very smart and crates himself for naps and sleeps through the night crated as well. In his foster home potty training is going great! Even as a small breed 12 week old puppy he has been able to sleep through the night and have no accidents during the day. It helps that his foster mom keeps him on a strict schedule which is essential for early potty training. Despite all the activity that this little man enjoys he is also a cuddler and loves to lay with you and snuggle. His new family will need to remember that in order to stay the sweet, social boy he is that he needs rules, limits and boundaries - this is no purse dog! We know that everyone's first instinct is going to be to carry him around all the time, but that will turn Koda into a bitey little brat when he is an adult. He would do best in an active home that will make him a part of their daily routine. Please no children under the age of 5 (due to Koda's size) and he would not do well in a home that is sedentary. If you are looking for a new best friend please complete an adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Koda will need one more set of puppy vaccinations in 4 weeks and he has already been microchipped. He will also need to be neutered by the adoptive family by January 2015. Due to the fact that Koda is too small to neuter right now we do require that the adoptive family sign a contract stating that Koda will be neutered by our specified date. They are also required to pay a $100 refundable neuter deposit which will be returned upon proof of neuter. There is a $150 adoption fee plus the $100 refundable deposit ($250 due at time of adoption). (Less)

Billy Bob is a 10 year old long haired chihuahua with gold and white hair and a little black nose. He has been in our family since 8 weeks old. He is a very sweet boy that loves everyone but has a bit of a food obsession. He shares well but likes to sit and protect any food left out. He must be adopted with his long time little brother Aussie, also listed on this site.

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only.  Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Aussie must be adopted with his best friend Billy Bob (also on this site). He is a long haired chihuahua with red hair and a pink nose. He has been in our home since 3 months old and has never been harmed in any way. He has always had dog, cat, and human companions but despite this has a very submissive personality. The kids are getting older and don't have time to play with the dogs anymore. It breaks my heart to give them up but my husband works out of town and my work schedule keeps me away from home too much. Over the past several months I've noticed that these sweet boys spend more time alone than with people. They need a new ... Rescue Me ID: 14-03-05-00263Misty (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Silly, goofy, sweet, gentle those are the words we who know her use to describe Misty the 3 year old Chihuahua mix. This pretty, long legged girl is just a joy to be around with her lopsided grin and her ambling walk. Misty is one of those dogs that just make you smile every time you see her face or watch her prance over to you for some loves. Misty loves nice long scratches and rubs on her chest and is always ready to settle down on the couch for a nap and a bit of TV watching with her family. We do require that Misty do not go to a home that has kids under 15 as she does get ... (Read More)overwhelmed by too much going on. Misty gets along fine with other small dogs but big dogs scare her. Misty would do best in a household that has other dogs her size or as an only dog where she can get all the love and attention. She is mostly fine with the cats in her foster home; she will on occasion take offense to them if they are being too pushy, but it is just barking. Misty came from a home in California where the humans were inbreeding and overbreeding the dogs in their home; sadly Misty's dog mom had been bred so many times and was so old that she began to have problems. Misty was stuck in the birth canal for a while darning cutting off her oxygen supply. As a result Misty has a touch of neurological damage from birth; she won't get worse and it does not affect her hardly at all. The worst you will notice is that it can sometimes take her an extra second to process information when she is tired or scared. And she does have a funny little prance when she walks; but it doesn't slow her down at all, it is the only thing she has ever known and she gets around great. Misty is house trained and very easy going. She likes her crate and will often go in on her own just to take a nap; she is very, very easy to live with. She does not enjoy walking on leash, but she does enjoy sitting in the sun in the backyard and she is great in the house. Misty does need a family that will allow her to have quiet time in her crate (her favorite place to nap) and will let her live the quiet, spoiled life she deserves. She will need a home that has a fenced yard so she can sunbathe to her hearts content. She would love to spend her days sitting in your lap soaking up your love. She really is a playful, happy little girl who has turned lemons into lemonade. If you can offer our little girl the life she should have always had please fill out the adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $40 to adopt Misty Misty is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped *Misty is eligible for our Pets for Patriots Program **You can see a short video of Misty walking here: http://youtu.be/3NdK4kQbVoo (Less)

Chihuahuas are loyal to the point of possessiveness and obsession with their masters. Chihuahuas are bold, high energy dogs that make wonderful companions for their owners but are suspicious of strangers. Chihuahuas are not well suited to families with children due to the dogs' defensiveness and tendency to snap when provoked. Chihuahuas need to be thoroughly socialized. Despite their small size, Chihuahuas are often aggressive with other dogs. Chihuahuas do fine living in an apartment but need plenty of daily exercise.
